Meet Akash (Paresh Patel), an adorable guy in India, who is unlucky in love and decides to come to USA to find a bride for himself. Soon he is in the Bay Area where his fathers good friend has lined up a number of girls for him to see. Rohit (Manoj Kumar Sen) is the friends son and is single too. Dulhan Made in USA takes us through the hilarious and heart-tugging experiences that Akash (accompanied by Rohit) has on this quest.

The lineup of girls ranges from the fast-talker, to the near-fanatical dentist to the one who really might be the one. The beauty is that all of this is really funny without the girls becoming over-the-top caricatures. Even the parents of these girls are a riot. Along the way we see so much we can identify with. We see the traditional mindset of the parents, the pressures that the girls face to get married and to the right guy. With every encounter Akash gets more nervous and starts losing hope of ever finding his mate in USA. We feel for him and wish he succeeds (while also looking forward to some laughs from his next disaster date). Rohit is his support-system and eggs him on.

Paresh Patel turns in a fine performance. He has an expressive face and handles everything with ease whether it is the comedy or the emotional moments in the movie. Manoj Sen does well too. All the girls deliver (unfortunately this first-time reviewer doesnt have all the names). The script is brilliant (written by Manoj Sen) and the direction and performances back it up wonderfully. The music (composed by various artists like the Bandits and Eastern Winds) rocks. Whether it is the background score or the songs, it all works great.

The movie grabs you right from the opening scenes where Akash is left heart-broken and it ends surprisingly well (considering that a lot of good movies lose their way at the end). There are a few Bollywood-ish moments but those can be excused.

This is a great effort and must get its due. For a while lets ignore the trash churned out by the Bobby Deols and Amisha Patels and head over to Naz to give this team the support it deserves. Trust me, you wont be disappointed. And it will be enough encouragement for them to outdo this work the next time.
