How to describe Hot Rod... easiest put its a throw back to 80's teen flicks, a taste of Napoleon dynamite with a flicker of Chevy Chase. Only unl-ike Napoleon Dynamite I actually enjoyed this movie with its tongue in cheek and at times over the top rock band style. Every laugh is a special kind. The kind where you wonder if you should groan or laugh..... and yes.. you will laugh.

Self-proclaimed stuntman Rod Kimble (Samberg) is preparing for the jump of his life. Rod plans to clear fifteen buses in an attempt to raise money for his abusive stepfather Frank’s life-saving heart operation. He’ll land the jump, get Frank better, and then fight him, hard.

This movie is low brow, insults your intelligence and frankly had me near in tears I was laughing so hard. This is not a date movie, its not a chick flick its a balls out DUDES flick with every stupid antic you could expect. Its got your typical feel good 'kid on a mission to save his dad', only its 'kid on a mission to save his step-dad' and throw in 'so he can get kick his ass once he has heart surgery and is healthy again'. Dont get me wrong. This is not a Naked Gun movie. It takes itself very seriously. There are no jokes, its all dead pan 'gotta save my step-dad so i can kick his ass'. Thats what makes it so funny. It has your typical traged, son on a mission then feel good build up to an epic conclusion that had me laughing so hard that I had to hit rewind and watch it again.

From the opening scenes to the closing chapters this movie insults your intelligence with a Stuntman who is about as much a stunt man as my ability to cut my grass makes me a superhero but regardless it works. Take a bunch of misfits who think they are the cats ass, throw in some fake mustaches, a hot chick and you have yourself one of the funniest movies I have seen in awhile. Knocked Up is the comedy of the year? I think not.. Hot Rod is hands down.
