Spiderman 3

At the end Peter Parker talks about choice one has and I wish Sam Raimi had exercised it. He had a choice to make an average movie and cash on the brand or not make one. Sadly I think he exercised the wrong choice.

Many parts of the movie reminded me of the corny syrup bollywood has been concocting for quite some time. Spiderman starts of being good then turns evil then good, then evil and by the end I did not care for what he was. The movie was too long for a Hollywood movie and in fact should have been called Spiderman in love. The movie has lot about him being in love with Mary Jane watching her perform on Broadway, sleeping in a web watching the shooting stars, then typical bollywood style she tells him Shekar mein tumse pyar nahin karti. Of course Mary Jane did not speak Hindi but in typical bollywood style she does says the unspeakable to save the hero. Then the hero comes and creates a scene where MJ works so much like apna hero from any average bollywood movie.

Then the villain or Harry or Junior Green goblin also confesses to being in love with Mary Jane. Many of these sections of the movie are no better than your average bollywood movie. At certain sections of the movie I thought Spiderman and MJ would break into a song. This movie has so many villains who dont stick to script and be villains. They have a heart which is in right place but either circumstance or wrong notion make them to be the bad guy. So we have a new villain the sandman whom the circumstances make him the bad guy. He confesses to the Spiderman that he did not want to do it but his daughter is sick and needed the money for operation. I wanted to cry not out of empathy but because I wished Sam Raimi realized it too. He made Sandman fight and create destruction only to satisfy a key element of any super hero movie to have a villain and to display special effects.

Spiderman goes to Green goblin a.k.a Harry and tells him MJ needs us today. He refuses then like our movies the servant or butler steps in and Harry goes to save Spiderman. He dies saving Spiderman and the sky is dark, the hero is crying and I could hear the song from sholay the sad version of Yeh dosti hum nahin chodenge. Then Vijay dies I mean Harry dies as the heroine and hero weep.

On of the villains in the movie is the main lead from the 70s show which was a popular show on fox for a long time. Here again the character is not build properly nor is his reason for being evil have any rhyme or reason. Only reason is directors brain freeze and his desire to have a villain and display special effects.

I think over all the movie sucked big time.
