With Lots and Lots of expectations, Spiderman - 3 reached the theaters on May 4th 2007 after 3 long years of waiting. It really disappoints the viewers as itsnot that catchy as the 1st and 2nd part where there were lots of entertainment element in it. But still the 3rd versionhas a lot of graphics and breath taking takes whichmakesget you to the edge of the seat. ButI would rate it below the 1st& 2nd part. The big budget movie wouldgo way above the previous 2 versions in terms of collections and might even break all previous box office records as it will definitely take a bumper opening as the expectations of this movie is quite high.
The story start with Flint Marko (Thomas Haden Church), an escaped prisoner who comes to visit his handicapped daughter.Police is in search of this person. His wife wants him to leave them alone and get surrendered to police but escapes from there andgets into a danger area where the Physics molecule fusion experiment is being done. He unknowingly falls into a pit where the experiment is being performed. Within seconds he finds that his DNA bonds with sand particles when he inadvertently gets caught. He becomesA Sandman and starts showing his powers on the world by robbing banks. (This has been shot in an amazing way) How a person becomes sand, walking, running etc,. looks awesome.
Peter Parket our hero enters into the scene and gets into a tussle with the Sandman. But somehow the Sandman escapes and Spidy misses it. Parker as usual gets some tip from his aunty for proposing with his longtime girlfriend Mary Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst). Mary Jane's career suffers some serious setback as she is not considered for the stage show and she feels bad. On the other side, Spider-Man's love for the public is at an all-time high.
Then there's Eddie Brock (Topher Grace), Peter Parker's photo-snapping rival at the Daily Bugle who is transformed into the extremely nasty Venom after being enveloped in that black goop from another galaxy that temporarily brings out Parker's own darker impulses.
That aforementioned sinister substance that turns Spidey's suit a sleek, inky black, also affords Maguire the opportunity to have a little fun getting in touch with his dark side, even when the bad-boy makeover is really something which is different from the previous versions.
But there's plenty to enjoy here, from all the usual suspects, plus nicely conflicted performances by Church and Grace (ironic names for portrayers of bad guys, huh?).
The climax revolves around the vengeance of Eddie Brock and Sand man joining together to eliminate Spiderman. They kidnap Spidey's girlfriend and plans a plot to kill Spiderman. Spiderman request his best friend for some help to which he refuses. Spidey decides to go all alone. The final shots are really well shot. Spidey's friend comes to the rescue and they kill the black sinister. But Spidey looses his friend in the battle. Finally, the Sandman confesses that he killed Spidey's uncle and a flashback story is revealed. Spidey forgives the Sandman. And finally he settles down with his girlfriend.
Spiderman-3 the visual and special effects are breathtaking. But on the whole, at times there is a tamil film touch where there are lot of baddies and Spiderman runs a one man show. Worth the money spend but still could have been better.
