The Departed

Good cop vs bad cop. This story line, is one of the oldest formula for a movie, any where in the world. But the way THE DEPARTED was projected my curiosity was high tend. The casting was super class and the director, Martin scorses is super class. Of course the story is originally from a Chinese film but like I earlier said, it has a universal appeal. Make it with Saif Ali khan, John Abraham and Nana Patekar in Hindi it would again work.
Here both Mafia and the police department place an agent in each others force. So you have good cop Leonardo Dicaprio siding with Don Jack Nicholson. And bad cop Mat Demon rising to the top rank quickly in the police department. They both have done an excellent job but I must say Leonardo is couple of shades more deep. Jack Nicholson as Frank Castello proves why he is still going strong. Each of the cast is picked carefully to lend a first rate support.
All said and done, the script is the King here. Crisp editing and fitting direction sets the movie apart for a lot of Oscar nominations. Catch the movie only if you are not adverse to the F word.
