Its Breaking News

I found the movie to be much better than what the media has made it out to be. It's not without its faults, but is really an honest film. I am surprised how no critic has mentioned the lyrics and the music which is really awesome! Especially Kaisa Rasta is beautifully rendered by Shreya Ghoshal & Shankar Mahadevan.

The film's most effective scene is the sting operation scene which is beautifully and most tastefully shot. There was a danger of making it sleazy, but the director has shown poise and great effectivity. On the flip side, there are loose ends in the script.

I was most put off with the way the film was reviewed. Khalid Mohammed reviewed it, by his own admission, without even seeing it. I think a person who has made a most boring film like Fiza shouldn't comment on any film being boring. Journalists seem to love bashing everybody but when its their turn to listen, they are most ungracious.

Koel Purie, I thought, fell short of expectations. Swati Sen, as Sangeeta, was most convincing. Her turnaround ala Zaheera Shaikh was a very well thought of point in the script. Vinay Apte was simply fabulous. Harsh Chhaya was very well cast in a role of an IPS cadre officer with a dark side. The court scene in the film seemed to be inadequate. But the movie was simple and direct. It had real people as characters.

When I came out I found myself humming the line from the song Kaisa Rasta - Aaino Ke Shaher Mein, Har Koi Ajnabee Hai!

I hope people go out and watch this film.... After the Uma Khurana sting operation... it is better that they trust common people like us more than they trust journalists who take this film so personally or themselves make so boring films that 5 minutes seem like 3 hours.

Minus Points: Weak links in the script, Koel Purie could have done with a better Hindi accent.
