What is the film all about:

Shankar Singh (Shreyas Talpade), a poor chef in a restaurant, finds a bag full of money. Shankar decides to make the most out of it. Incidentally, the bag belongs to the local Don (Naseeruddin Shah) who goes mad at the thief's audacity. He sends his son Jamal Khan aka JAM K, a rapper at heart, after him to retrieve the money and kill him. But Shankar finds his way into a team of doctors on their way to Bangkok for relief work. Unfortunately, he misplaces the bag in the chaos. Then begins the chase- with Shankar desperately trying to find his bag and JAM K following him everywhere.

In Bangkok his world changes at a massage bar where he bumps into the lovely Jasmine (Lina Christianson). Shankar tries to woo jasmine in every possible way. The only hitch being the language barrier. Shankar posing as a doctor along with his newfound buddy Sardar Rachinder, jumps into this whirlpool while Jasmine gets pulled into his adventures as he keeps dodging the Don and his henchmen.

What to watch out for:

Shreyas Talpade
once again proves his credibility as an actor who can manage to be funny and serious at the same time. A little bit of his clumsy fight stunts in the end only adds to the fun.

Lina Christianson is the first girl from Far East to hit Bollywood mainstream. This Thai beauty sizzles on the screen if not with her acting prowess, but with her hot outfits and four-five kissing sequences with Shreyas.

Director Nagesh Kukunoor must have tried to relive the joyous moment with his blue-eyed boy Shreyas as he makes him do the same 'running on the haystack' scene from Iqbal, when Shankar discovers Jasmine too is in love with him despite the language bar. Nagesh adds a little more nostalgic touch by keeping the popular Aashayein… track from Iqbal as the background score and even making Shreyas aka Shankar hum a few lines. Bombay To Bangkok sees him taking a tangy twist all together, flowing with the tide of comical entertainers. Nagesh fans, who by now have got used to his unconventional subjects and innovative approach in Hyderabad Blues, Dor and Iqbal, may not like him taking the detour this time. The film doesn’t have anything exciting in terms of cinematography and visuals. Although we get to see a lot of Bangkok.

Vijay Maurya aka JAM K, the Don rapper, needs a special mention here. This guy has indeed done a marvelous job, dropping in as the comic relief. Despite him playing a Don, one just loves him as he bursts into funny raps at the most intense of moments. Although the other characters, especially that of Dr Tripathi's (Yatin Karyekar), seem predictable.

One wonders, what made Naseeruddin Shah take up this blink-and-miss appearance as the Don.

The music
in the film is only average except for one song that is already climbing the charts. Kukunoor succeeds to some extent as he kick starts the album with a catchy track, We are same same but different. Composed by Salim-Sulaiman and written by Mir Ali Husain the song comprises Hindi, English and Thai words which makes it more interesting.

Verdict:
Overall, it's a feel-good movie, certainly worth a watch. This low-profile joy ride comes as a surprise from someone like Nagesh.
