One stormy night, two strangers meet while trying to run from the torrential Monsoon of Mumbai. Despite sharing a common shelter the two share nothing else in common. He is an up class investment banker suave, smart and sophisticated while she is in total antagonism with him. She a prostitute street smart yet innocent gaudily draped in a bright red saree looking every inch the profession that she is in. Initially, the tow are quite reticent, too hesitant to start a conversation but the ice melts as the movie advances. Chameli is not a love story it is about relationship that develops between these two people played by Kareena Kapoor and Rahul Bose.

As the film is about one night and so it moves back and forth in time. Colorful characters like the chaiwala named John and a transvestite played by Kabeer Sadanah come in as the story unviels. Kareena Kapoor as a sex worker draped in a red saree has already made lot of news about her role in and as Chameli with which she breaks into parallel cinema.

Anant Balani started the film but due to his sad and untimely demise Sudhir Mishra was tuned into take over directorial reins. Films like Is raat ki sunah nahina and the recent Calcutta Mail highlight his directorial profile. Chameli is being shot in a month long start to end schedule and has three songs composed by Sandesh Shandilya. Out of the three score one was recently shot with Mahek Chalal the padosan from Tharun Kumar's Nayee Padosan. Wait for Chameli to see Kareena Kapoor in her latest avtaar.
