When Kamal Haasan's Hey Ram was a commercial flop, one can understand why the media would name RGV as a maverick director. I don't care what an IBNLive female correspondent writes about RGV's personal life. In fact anybody's personal life has no correlation with their professional performance. Case in point: Kamal Hassan.
Darling is like a cover drive. You just play it for the style and enjoy it to the last moment. Isha Deol seems more talented then her Mom. Fardeen Khan is a decent actor as long as the director knows what he or she is doing. Isha Kopikkar looks cute although the voice dubbing could have been better.
If there's anything new in the movie's storyline, it's the presentation. There have been countless movies like this with endings that I guessed a minute before it happened. Nevertheless the movie is still watchable largely for its technical aspects like lighting, camera work and casting.
Watch out for the hilarious moments where Malathi Pandey introduced as 'Pandey, Malathi Pandey' just stares all through the movie. If you take chunks of movies you'll notice that they have been done in the past but the entirety is a new permutation.
Jinks review: Darling 3.7/5
Plus Points: No songs as usual. Clean dialogs. Short film and so no waste of time.
Minus Points: None that I can think of
