Dharmesh Darshan after the success of RAJA HINDUSTANI(1996)and a flop MELA(2000)returned with DHADKAN with A-listing stars like Akshay, Suneil & SHilpa
However it was after this that all three were appreciated as actors, though suneil's acting was appreciated in REFUGEE, JUNGLE, BORDER, HU TU TU & KRODH too, this one proved his emotive talent effectively which rarely was prjected earlier
The film comes straight to the pt in the start, Suneil-shilpa part ways and akki's marraige, everything is fast but then once the focus shifts to the akki-shilpa marraige things start to slow down
Suneil's entry in the interval is a good twist in the tale and well executed but the second half despite of the scenes with sunil and shilpa and sunil's grey character being handled with maturity has it's blemishes too like SUneil's story from a poor guy to rich guy isn't shown, the transformation had to be shown believeably
The film gets slow at this juncture and tends to get theatrical at times, the climax however saves the show
but the last scene looks abrupt, the best part would've been suneil's character being killed as the change of heart and willingness to marry Mahima looks fake
Dharmesh darshan handles the film well, but the writing could be better
Music is the saving grace, All songs are well choreographed and are placed at the right times and all have good tunes but the NA NA KARTE placement is wrong
Akshay Kumar gets into the skin of the character and portrays a role different from his image and handles it with sincerity and maturity, this film shows his growth as an actor
Shilpa too handles her part with maturity, though she hams at times
Suneil is however the biggest surprise, given a complex role he does full justice to it, his emotional scenes show his growth as an actor
The rest are okay
Kiran Kumar stands out, Sushma Seth irritates

Plus Points: a well handled film, best performances, music
emotional scenes

Minus Points: tends to drag, slow paced second half, suneil's tranformation isn't believeable
