This movie has tried to tackle comlicated issues with an underlying love story that leaves you feeling sorry for Kajol's character.
The movie starts with a nice upbeat and fun tone. The music really takes your breath away. Amir Khan character is very funny but has been relegated to, too much poetry and when he does say some lines there are hints of a dark side within him. Kajol has acted beautifully and appears genuine( Best Actress Award?) even though at times her character is too eager to compensate for her disability and reach normality.
All this courting leads to love making(???) and suddenly the movie picks up a gear and introuduces the duality in Amir Khan's character. It is after this revelation that the movie struggles to fully compell the viewer of the message it is trying to deliver. Time has passed and a mission goes wrong and Amir character, wounded, find's himself at Kajol's door step. Kajol now a single mother and widow, again seems too eager to please this stranger. There are very repetitive dialogues and very childish cliche's. This is supposed to be the serious part of the movie.Even our brave soldiers and agents are portrayed as a bickering bunch with unprofessional attitudes. The movie speeds up again trying to unravel everything. There are a few unnecessary deaths and you are now aware that this is all going to end badly. Finally the death of Amir Khan(repeating the same line for the tenth time in the movie) by Kajol's hands, when she trully becomes a widow and the rest of her family also destroyed, leaves you thinking she is the the incarnation of "wonder woman". The second part of the movie is most dissapointing.
Love does conquer all, but you have to be willing to face up to all physical consequences and let your spirit go in the hands of God Almighty, because afterall God is also LOVE. This is the road to PEACE.
