Gandhi My Father

Well this is a very, very late review of the film Gandhi My Father. I had seen the film in Air India flight March this year.

By now, there are many meaningful reviews and my writing would be to highlight some of my personal points on detect.

The film is well made and the character of Mahatma’s wife Kasturba superbly portrayed by Shefali Shah. As son Akshay Khanna needs applause, he has done justice to the character of son with intense pathos. As the son’s young wife, Bhumika Chawla too has given her best.

If anyone has missed the film it is a must view. Director Feroze Khan has done good justice by doing the film. Photography, scene building, costume, and presentation, of those times with attention to details express commendable successful efforts.

Generally, tend to forget films soon after viewing but this lingers on in my mind.

My suspicious mind, on viewing the facts in the story what if Mahatma’s son was failed with purpose each time he took tests, to control the father – with vindictive that the father may stop his plans of freedom enslaved by family setbacks. One can never say with what cunningness native life had control of those days by colonists.

The film is another fact of life that wrings heart just like the helplessness felt at Gandhi thrown out from the first class compartment.

Mahatma Gandhi surely a good father trapped and blackmailed by destiny remained stubborn to his main purpose of freeing his innumerable children sacrificing his eldest loving one.

May God help all those with sincerity in heart, is the prayer I could let out in whispers and close eyes in my airplane seat to reach destination.
