This is one of the best of Mani Ratnams Films.
Guru is a rag to riches story of a villager. The illusory Guru Kant Desai becomes the biggest maker of polyester in India. His rise to the top through sheer hard work. But his fast pace rise is disliked by his competitions who try to frame him through the media as a corporate crook and as an evader of the licensing restrictions and taxes. He also has to face the wrath of the stock holders. All this leads to Guru having a paralytic stroke. He recovers to deliver an emotional speech before an investigating commission. This is the best part of the movie where Abhishek has given a powerful performance. The musical score by A.R.Rahman and dances by Aishwarya mix well. Brilliant Cinematography.
