Another Karan Johar movie. Someone should call him for some detergent commercial because his movies have everything so clean and sanitized. I dont think anyone is even allowed to come unshaven to his sets. Of course that means he can rarely shoot in India. With all the dirt and grime here. So off to New York he is for KANK. Even NY never looked this good when i was there. Anyways i digress

The movie had to be shot in the USA I guess because Indians in India cant be shown divorcing each other

Shah Rukh is a footballer married to Preeti Zinta. Abhishek gets married to a hesitant Rani Mukherjee. ( In real life Abhishek was the one who was hesitant and married someone else). Shah Rukh attends the wedding (his mother, Kiron Kher, is the caterer) and tells the hesitant Rani that its not necessary to love the person u marry. And not to worry that Mr RIght will turn up after u marry because u wont be looking. He says bye but she says KANK

After that Shah Rukh gets hit by a car and cant play football anymore. He has to become a kids football coach.That send his marriage to the ambitious Preeti spiralling downwards. A woman earning more than her husband is a recipe for disaster, i guess

Abhishek and Rani are doing no better since Rani doesint respect Abhishek and thinks he is a kid. Amitabh in a sterling performance (as usual) as Abhishek's playboy father and Abhishek are buddies

Shah Rukh has a bad temper and threatens his son to play football instead of the violin. There is a child killer going around called Black Beast. Rani overhears the bad tempered Shah Rukh threatening his son at the railway station and thinks he is the Black Beast (since the Black Beast must be bad tempered too if hes killing kids). She decides to save ShahRukh's son from the Black Beast. A stunned Shah Rukh rescues his son and both Shah Rukh and Rani are hurt. So they meet again in the hospital. He recognises her and this time he says KANK

Shah Rukh and Rani begin to meet and talk about their problems with their spouses and how to fix them. Soon they fall in love and that is their main problem

After meeting secretly they decide to go public (dont ask me why) and both get divorced but lie to each other (a lie is always the start of a wonderful friendship)

Three years later Abhishek gets remarried and calls Rani to be his best man and she learns that Shah Rukh is alone as well. She runs to the station and alls well that ends well

The theme of the movie seems to be that incompatible people are better off divorced . So go and find your true love and dont waste your time being married to the wrong person. Kids will survive
