Kal Ho Naa Ho

'KAL HO NAA HO' is the story of Aman (Shah Rukh Khan), Rohit (Saif Ali Khan) and Naina's (Preity Zinta) journey together. How they discover themselves and find the courage to love.

It is a story told by Preity Zinta (Naina Catherine Kapur). It starts with Naina narrating the story of her life over her daily morning jog. Her life is cold, grey and dull, ever since her father passed away.

One by one the characters in her life are introduced. There is mom Jennifer (Jaya Bachchan), who shares a love-hate relationship with her mother-in-law Sushma Seth, a kid brother and sister. The only interesting person in Naina's life is buddy Rohit Patel, a skirt-chaser until he falls in love with Naina. He also has a typical Gujarati father (Satish Shah), who runs a business called 'Dial A Dhokla'.

Enter funny and energetic guy Aman, who turns out to be the angel in Naina and her family's lives. Naina hates him at first sight, but can't help falling for his charm eventually. Even Rohit takes tips from Aman on how to woo Naina. It's all fun and games till interval.

The second half is moving, yet humorous. Shah Rukh Khan delivers a great performance. He is helped by a role that gives him immense scope to exhibit a gamut of emotions. Preity Zinta slips into character beautifully. She looks pretty and has acted with such conviction. Saif Ali Khan is a revelation. The actor manages to stand on his own despite towering performances by SRK and Preity. He fits the suave Gujju look required of him. Jaya Bachchan delivers yet another flawless performance. Sonali Bendre in a special appearance is good. Rajpal Yadav is good although loud in a cameo role. Sushma Seth is first-rate. Ditto for Reema Lagoo. Lilette Dubey, Delnaz Paul (making her debut in Bollywood as Sweetoo), Satish Shah and Ketaki Dave liven the proceedings. Simone Singh looks gorgeous in her brief negative role. Shoma Anand and Dara Singh are adequate. But wonder what Sanjay Kapoor and Uday Chopra were doing in their special appearances!
