Ashutosh Gowerikar who directed 2 flops BAAZI & PAPA KEHTE HAI is back with a bang with LAGAAN
one of the best films ever made, The film tells a story of indians who face opression against british but the novel part is that they play cricket and not fight a war
The first half is well treated, though it's quite lengthy, the scene wherein aamir accepts the challenge is brilliantly executed
ditto for many scenes, the highlight is the training scenes and the climax
well they are many other scenes too well handled
one flaw is it's excessive length and usage of it's lingo,
The film is well handled, and the director deserves plaudits for it,
Screenplay could be tighter
Music is brilliant, especially RADHA, MITWA and others
CInematogrpahy is apt
Acting is brilliant
Aamir suits the role to the T, he is brilliant throughout, one of his best performances and he proves yet again that he is a marvellous actor
Toby Stephens is another actor who justifies his part
Gracy makes a confident debut, she is a g8 dancer as well
Amongst others
Yashpal Sharma, Dayashankar Pandey stand out
Plus Points: brilliant direction, writing, acting
music
Minus Points: too lengthy, gets slow
