Manoroma Six Feet Under
That is very peculiar name for movie which is a murder mystery.
I felt, though very feebly, it is an Indian version of Roman Polanski movie “
The movie directed by debutante director Navdeep Singh, but the way he essayed a good screenplay into a fine movie, will give many famous directors jitters.
Abhoy Deol, I must admit that this is the first movie I saw of him, gave fine performance of small town journalist turned investigator of the truth.
Vinay Pathak did full justice and is simply superb as the local Sub Inspector with his cynical outlook on life. This Movie added another feather to his cap.
We have seen such type of movies of murder mystery earlier also on Indian screen. But they were spiced with unnecessary nacha gana which slowed down the movies.
This movie is different in treatment and presentation. In the backdrop of a Rajasthan village / small town, a supposed to be corrupt engineer seeks to go under the sleaze of a politician and his cronies.
The end could have more dramatic but the director chooses it underplay it.
For those who are looking for a typical “thriller” film with the good guy beating the hell out a bad guy, this film is strictly no for them.
A good movie for those who want a mystery should be logically unfolded very slowly. Please watch the movie.
