Mixed opinions have risen with respect to this movie. Some say it was boring, some others say it was poetic. Despite the reviews i wanted to see this movie, more for Ranvir and Sonam. They are a star couple in this movie, and yes they looking really charming together.

Sawariya will be appreciated by those who are ruled more by their emotions than those who are practical. There a plenty of loose ends in this movie. The presence of Salman, is a little strange and Sonam's love for him is a little beyond ones practical imagination. Can someone go and fall in love so madly after seeing the person just once. They barely got to spend time together.

Ranvir was great, he spoke not just with words but with hsi eyes. He was amazing and for a first time actor - brilliant job. Sonam was charming in her role, very clean and "well covered" with no item numbers thrown in to boost her into stardom. She did a clean walk through. I wish every other woman in the industry had that luck. Sonam did a respectable role, none of her interviews or her performance indicate that she ever could have been faced with the dirt of bollywood.

Rani, as usual wasa great performer. She made even a prostitute have some respect. Two of her dialogs particularly caught my attention. One where she conpares her "dhanda" with the guest house lady and sees no difference between the two and second when she tells Ranvir he is the first man who wants to come and sit in her living room - nothing more. Its a different story Ranvir messed that one up according to script.

The songs made sense with the visuals, not on their own. Except the theme song the rest needed visual support to be understood and appreciated for a second round of listening. The settings, well too dull... the sets didnt have to be sooo thought out. The script had a story with a point, and a strong enough point if you caught it, and the actors did their parts really really well which is what saved this movie. But Sanjay Leela Bansali should have given this movie one thing - sunlight!

There was no sunlight!! It was a theatrical performance, like a play. Even the happy scenes were in darkness of blues and greens. If there was sunlight there would have been a whole lot more of relief. And sunlight is important! I realized that after i saw Sawariya.

All in all - good movie, worth a watch if you can live through the initial half.
