Saawariya is more of a Broadway play on the big screen .The movie is based on Fyodor Dostoevsky’s short story ‘White Nights’,
Raj (Ranbir Kapoor) falls in love with the strange girl Sakina (Sonam Kapoor) who he meets meets on the bridge. Love at first sight but alas; the girl is is waiting for Imann (Salman Khan) who she loves and promise to return on the night of Eid.
The story of Saawariya is more about the ordeal of love and pain of women in waiting for the return of her lover.
Music, by Monty is the best part of the film. But then again all songs were all centered around the boy.
Ranbir plays his role with confidence. Sonam, looks gorgeous, but lack emotion.
Salman Khan has a more of a guest role to play while Rani has stolen the show with her desi english expression. Zohra Segal the landlady is the darling of the show.
Saawariya has great visual presentation. The movie is for a more intellectual crowd than the general masses.
