It takes a brave film maker to go on a seven year hiatus to come back with a film called Shikhar. Its central protagonist a character inspired by Gordon Gekko from Oliver Stones Wall Street. John Mathew Matthan primary targets are the value system and laws. His voice is Guruji (Jawed Sheikh) a retired industrialist lives quietly in an ashram until GG (Ajoy Devgan) arrives with his las vegas vision i.e to turn the palce into a casino capital, while the custodian of the area aspires to make a oasis of green. The pawn in this clash is Gurujis son Shahid Kapoor and Ajays weapon is the sultry Bipasha Basu. For a man who smartly handled the relevant theme of Sarfarosh, Matthan is strangely uncertain about his vision of Shikhar which would be better off with the cinematic style of an Ashutosh Gowariker. Ajay plays GG to perfection & Shahid is a revelation as the man led astray.
