Swami

Swami. The name of the Character that was played by Manoj Bajpai. He nurses a desire to own a rocking chair because when was young he got hit by the owner of the house who his mother worked for. He is the protaganist of this movie. He plays a simple, sweet Marathi man who lived in a village with his South Indian wife Radha (Juhi Chawla). They were married for 10 Years and they were finally going to get a child. Once Radha sees a T.V program about how education is better in the city and she tells Swami they should move to the city and he say's we will move when the time come's. They get a handsome, cute son whose name is Anand. Once Radha she's a program where they are showing the benefits of living in America and she nurses a desire to send Anand to america.When Anand turns 5 Yrs old Swami gets a oppurtunity to move to the city. He moves, Anand gets admission to School and  all is going well. Swami's wife falls ill and then she need's an operation. He starts saving for her operation and starts doing overtime. With all the Saved money Radha buys the rocking chair for her husband and engraves the Words "Radha Swami" over it. He gets angry saying "How could you do it, I love you more than I love this chair". Radha keeps quiet. After a few days Radha takes a promise from Swami that he will send Anand to America. He does and She dies. 

The next scene shows him as an old man whose son works in a MNC bank. He has tought his son this dream of going to America. He falls in love and he gets a promotion also but the bank has a rule of sending an employee to America after 5 years. Swami still is happy and gets him married. Anand has a Child and Swami is happy. The Daughter in Law loves Swami likes a father but She doesnt like one thing. The old Rocking Chair in their house. She knows it was Radha's final gift but her Son gets hurt and she being a mother Sells it off. Anand gets angry, His wife repents and she tries to find it to no avail and Swami tells Anand to forgive his wife because if Radha was in his wife's place she would have done the same. Anand finally gets to prove to America but without Swami. Anand and His wife decide they Don't to go. Swami gets angry and he says it was not Anand's wish but His Mother's wife. And Swami decides to stay at an Ashram much to Anand's displeasure.

Swami finally bids Anand Goodbye and goes to his room in the Ashram guess what he finds there.......

THE ROCKING CHAIR !!!!!

Swami is a simple movie that should be watched by every one. It has got great perfomances by Veterans and Newcomers. Simple, Sweet and Unassuming don't miss it
