Ramesh Sippy after blockbusters like SHOLAY and many more films including the recent BLUFFMASTER is back with TAXI No.9211 which is a real wacko entertainer, no doubt plus it has a novel story and it's direction too is original. The film starts off establishing the main characters and takes a time to come to the point
The story takes a g8 start with the Nana-john clash in the taxi followed by many twists n turns, There are scenes which bring the house down especially the scenes betn Nana-John and in the police station
and some scenes make us feel for the characters too
The interval pt is brilliant too and one expects an equally charged second half and the second half too is brilliantly executed, with many riveting scenes
like Nana banging sameera's car and his taxi being banged at the rly is hair rising, though some might find it unbelieveable
The film has a few flaws too like the Nana dealing with John's will isn't convincing and even some might find the change of heart of the characters towards the pre-climax when they drink together little far-fetched, but the reason maybe they have woken up to reality. The scenes prior to this are fabolously executed
the climax too seems believeable though priyanka's appearance makes it distracting
Milan Luthria is a brilliant director, after KACHCHE DAAGE, CHORI CHORI & DEEWAAR he storms back with this film, the film works due to it's unpredictable nature and the cat n mouse game is brilliant though slightly unbeleiveable, Still he hasn't made Nana the hero alone but john too is given equal scope
Music is used as a background peice mostly except EK NAZAR which comes at the right pt, AASMALE is perfectly placed and the METER DOWN track is brilliantly choreographed
CInematography is apt, making mumbai look good
Editing is slightly loose at times, otherwise the film moves at a brisk pace
Nana and John deliver brilliant performances, the best part is that they don't try to outdo each other with their performances.
Nana delivers another brilliant performance, suiting the character perfectly, his one-liners are terrific and he is simply superb throughout
John stands on his feet throughout, he is terrific especially in the scenes with nana and sameera towards the climax
Sameera doesn't impress, Sonali Kulkarni makes aterrific comeback, her scenes with Nana prove her mettle
Kurush Deboo too stands out
Ganesh Yadav, the actor who plays the hawaldar are terrific in their parts
ditto for Shivaji Satam

Plus Points: a brilliantly executed film, novel story and brilliant performances

Minus Points: slightly unbeleievable and tends to get slow at times
