Gaalipata

Well after waiting for a period of one and half months ,finally I get a chance to watch a movie.[also wanted to celebrate the euphoria of my daughter finishing her exam!]satisfyling  my ever present ambition of watching a kannada one! Had heard so much about mungaru male, directed by the same director,Mr.Yogaraj Bhat which  steadfastedly refused to watch it as it has a tragic ending [ as it is life is full of quite a lot of tragic things why go and cry in a movie theatre right?to come back heavy hearted?]This opportunity I had to grab .I could not believe that first of all the theatre was 3/4th full.felt proud that kannada movies finally could create a niche for themselves!

I went with lot of curiosity about the golden star Ganesha [The kannad people have this strange habit of giving a title to every popular actor!]to see what is so great about him.Well I have mixed feelings after seeing him,dint feel that excited nor dejected. He is good in emoting and has a different style of dialogue delivery. But here and there I felt he copies devanand's mannerisms.

the movie is about three friends [NO NOt DIL CHAHTA HAI!} but the couples are so mismatched. The director could have used some discretion when it comes to his choice of heroines .[But he must have thought that having goldne star itself is enough and true, the movie is considered to be a hit anyway]Ganesh's lover soumya [daisy bopanna]is two inches taller than him! there is another hero Diganth whose heroine looks like a weight lifter where diganth looks so young and cute! the third hero by the by  is a good singer basically named rajesh krishnan .He is not too bad as an actor [what else he can do when producers have started bringing all hindi singers into kannada these singers have to look for alternate careers!]

How these three friends get frustrated in life decide to go to a scenic place in coorg, and fall in love with three girls of the same family whom they stay with.Two sisters and one widow bhabhi

considering the acting part, everybody has done their job well . Here the actress nitu needs a special mention as she has done quite well  of a young teenage ,carefree girl. Daisy bopanna whom I had a chance to watch in another kannada movie is very good as a quiet, soumya girl [soumya menas calm in kannada anyway]like her namesake.But the third actress bhavana needs to tone down both her histrionics and her body.and she is too big in size I feel to make it a success in the movie industry!

a couple of songs are very good not upt o the mark of the previous mungaru male which has created a sort of record.

But there is constantly a wild pig coming into the scene where they try to hunt and finally it ends up to be lord varaha and anantnag regaining his legswhile trying to shoot it etc  [eventhough he had spinal problem] was little bizarre.

On the whole it is a watchable movie My daughter's final comment was "Amma I love kannada movies!"
