Also makes one realise how innocent people can become victims of law and order.
Juhi Chawla was a treat to watch after so long on big screen and still remains my favourite actress of all time. She can easily give Rani, Kareena, Preity a run for their money even today and she looked stunning in every scene...just wished she had a more influential role!
Gurdaas Maan was superb...he surprised me...a huge leap from his acting in Zindagi Khoobsurat Hai. He really made me feel for him especially in the scenes where he was beaten by the police and when he is released from prison and his father collects him. He bought immense vulnerability to his character.
Divya Dutta was excellent as Guddi. Her sweet character actually had more importance to the stoyr than Juhi Chawla's and she was so funny whenever she burst out into song. She looked beautiful as a bride and added even more life to the "Challa" song.
The rest of the cast were good to.
The songs were all well interspered, my favourites being "Tainu Pata" "Challa" and "Na Ve Rabba Na"
However, the movie did drag at times and perhaps the only flaw is the overdose of crying but that is understandable given the situations the characters are put in.
I'm also extremely happy that there was no stupid comedy sketch of a sardar that kept popping up like Harbhajan Maan's past two Punjabi movies "Jee Ayan Nu" and "Asa Nu Maan Watna Da"
If you want to see a realistic yet still entertaining film that has the commercial elements of a Indian movie yet still a meaty strong storyline then Des Hoyaa Pardes is a must see...it beats all Punjabi films to date and also has a message...
The climax of the film is superb, all in all, watch it for the story, Juhi Chawla, Gurdaas Maan, Divya Dutta and the amazing songs...a true family film.
