If you haven't already picked the album of this Ajith-starrer, it's time you buy it

Couple of dazzling remixes and some great original compositions in Pa Vijay's lyrics, Yuvan does a brilliant job with the music of Billa 2007. The man is quite taken in by Arabic music and you can see its influence in Sei, one of the original compositions in this album. The other composition, which is just as enticing, is Naan meedum because of the stepped-up beats in the interludes increasing the sense of intrigue and hinting at the possible twists in the plot.

But the true grandeur of the film comes across in the theme song of Billa, which is powerful and intimidating… quite like the character of don himself.

Of the remix numbers, My name is Billa stands in contrast to the MS Viswanathan original. However, with the striking use of the whistle the song and beats to which you could well walk the ramp, the song achieves a uber-cool effect. The other remixed tune Vethalaya potendi, sung by Shankar Mahadevan has a tune, which is altogether different from the original. It is almost impossible to find any relation to the first version. But Yuvan has treated this song as his own and composed a completely fresh number with a twang of heavy metal blended into the kuthu rhythms!

To sum it up, the variety in the songs showcases his extraordinary skills in producing music of international quality without forgetting the Indian roots. Indeed Billa 2007 with its unique compositions is shaping up to be an all-round treat.
