Laurels were heaped by Tamilnadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on Rajnikanth at the 804th day celebrations of Chandramukhi held in Chennai on Monday.
Speaking after distributing trophies and shields to the cast and crew of the film, which completed an 800-day run in Chennai, Karunanidhi said that Rajnikanth was humble in spite of his success. This quality, the Chief Minister added, was the reason for the actor continuing to be successful.
Karunanidhi recalled Rajnikanth's popularity in far off countries like Japan where Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, during his address at the Japanese parliament, had referred to the popularity of Rajinikanth. This gives me utmost happiness, he said.
He also recalled his friendship with thespian Sivaji Ganesan and his family on the occasion.
He expressed his admiration for Rajnikanth's Sivaji on the occasion.
Narrating a story of frogs on the occasion, Rajnikanth, said, Karunanidhi was a standing example of tolerance and he has achieved success only after turning a deaf ear to several criticisms against him.
He thanked director P Vasu, producers Ramkumar and P Vasu for making the movie count at the box office.
On his part, Kamal Haasan spoke on the good rapport shared between him and Rajnikanth. He described Rajnikanth as a great human being and said he is waiting achieve many more success in his career.
Producers A V M Saravanan, KRG and Tamil Film Producer Council president Rama Narayanan also spoke on the occasion.
