A middle class bank officer who is caught in the rigmarole of an average Indian in any part of the country is left with no other option of eschewing violence to vent out his anger against the misdoings in the society.
Well, that is enough fodder for a 2 hour quality movie. On the contrary, the movie which was high on expectations flounders very badly after a ripping start. Either the Tamil remake of the Marathi award winner "Dombivili Fast" is nowhere near its original or the adaptation has been done to suit the local audiences.
We all know that Madhavan is as courageous as his mentor, Kamal Hassan, in taking the less trodden path. Here his idea seems to be good. One can see the initial pregnancy of ideas later culminating into a miscarraige of sorts. What starts of as a different movie meanders into a run of the mill movie where the hero takes law into his hands. How come he is scot free in perpetrating crime after crime is for the director to say.
The cop who empathises with the law breaker does a neat role but extends the climax to cinematic levels in the shooting episode in the train. Overall, the rampage in the shop, the stabbing of the local councillor, the fire in the drugs godown, the gun threat to the doctor for non-treatment of a poor patient and all that could be a part of any film.
What message the movie conveys is also for one to ponder. The director not only confuses himself but also passes it on to the viewers. If the absence of the song is a difference .. then this is a movie with a difference.
