Featured Kuselan Movie Review

by siva_tampo

P.Vasu has taken another remake task from "Katha parayum mol" on friendship. I dont know about the original version, but this one is pretty slow from start to end. We can just laud the climax scene dialogues from Rajni. Just being on screen for an hour or so, Rajni is the limelight of the movie.

Pasupathy lives with his wife Meena and three children in a very poor house in the village as a honest person. Being a barber, Pasupathy uses his fathers old tools and chair and manages to just send his children to school. They all live together happily without any complaints. But when the elder girls comes to the Xth std, the fees issue comes to the picture. Pasupathy even asks loan for renovating his shop, which is rejected.

Vadivelu who once worked with Pasupathy, comes out and creates his own shop, pulling people from bus stands by dummy police and earns a living by full shaving their head. The comedy scenes are not that great in this movie for him.

In this juncture, cine people come to the village to shoot their movie in which Ashok Kumar is the super star hero. Though Pasupathy knows the depth of his friendship with him, just tells the family and city that he is school days friend. After hearing this, people try to get hold of this friendship to make money for themselves. This includes the school teachers for their 25yrs celebrations, Livingston for getting callsheet for his movie and others. All these things are rejected by Pasupathy by his self-esteem. He thinks that his friend will think he has come for monetory benefit renewing the old friendship.

The whole city goes to the shooting to see their favorite hero and herione. When the time comes to the end of the shooting everyone tries to force Pasupathy to meet his friend and his help or favor. His children also start to show their face when he rejects to get photograph with him. Livingston who gives new rolling chair and tools in favor of getting the callsheet from Ashok, gets them all back, when they dont get their part. The school also manages to call him on ministers recommendation.

On the function, Rajni lauds too much on his old days friend Balu (Pasupathy) and makes us cry with emotions. At last, Rajni comes to Pasupathy's house and the friendship survives.

Good performance from R.Sundararajan, Chinni Jayanth, Prabu, Santhanabarathy and Santhanam. Music is not too great. None of the verses are audible in the harsh music. Some good points from the movie are:
When Rajni says, why should people worry on what i do or dont.
There is difference between santhosham and nimmathi.
I dont know why people left friend in the series of mother, father, teacher and God.
Other than that, most of the scenes are reeling and remembers "Veiyil" and Pasupathy's poor presence. He has done his job though, but he has done it as "Veiyil part II".
