MaaMadhurai Movie Review (2 Reviews)
Films with Madurai back ground or Madurai in
title will usually be full of violence. But for a change Maa Madurai
has dealt with love and sentiment. This is a usual love story which
tells about the love between a rich girl and a poor boy but the film
has also mother sentiment in it.
This film has many debutants. The hero, the director and the producer
all make their debut through this film. For a change the producer has
also acted as a villain in the movie. Director K K Krishnan has managed
to give a family entertainer.
The story goes thus. The film is taken in the Madurai background.
Saravanan the hero of the film (Vaasan Karthik) works as a coolie at
the Madurai Railway Station. He is usually accompanied by his friends
Karunas and Mayilsami. The duo makes a very good comedy.
Nandhini (Mithuna) is the sister of a politician Kottai Kumar (played
by the producer). At one instance Nandhini who travels by train to
Madurai leaves her mobile phone in t
the
train. Saravanan sees the phone and tries to give it back to Nandhini.
For this he goes to Nandhinis house to return the phone to her.
Seeing a coolie coming in search of his sister Kottai Kumar becomes
angry like any other villain and warns his sister. In spite of that
Nandhini and Saravanan become good friends and in the due course
Nandhini falls in love with the hero. But Nandhini does not know that
Saravanan is a coolie and thinks that he belongs to a rich family.
When one thinks that this is a love story there comes a twist in the
story. Saravanan is in search of his lost mother. Delhi Ganesh is his
foster father who helps him in search of his mother. Saravanan some how
finds that his mother is Sita who is now a successful business woman.
When Saravanan tries to tell his mother that he is herson, he stopped
by his conscience. This is because Sita adopts two children in place of
her lost son. Not wanting to spoil the future of the two kids
Saravanan, stops identifying himself to his mother.
In the meantime, the villain does everything to separate his sister
from Saravanan. But at one instance Saravanan saves his life and there
the villain realizes his mistake and gives green signal for the lovers.
The climax has a lot of things to tell. What happens between the lovers and does the son and mother unite is said in the climax.
Vadivelu is there for comedy. Though his comedy is good, it is just an extra fitting for the film.
Karthik Rajas music is good on ears. Vasan Karthik seems to have a
bright future. Others in the film have done their part well. In short
the film is a family entertainer.
