Featured Paali Movie Review

by Indian Cinema

In his first venture Paali, director A Jesudas has given a film about a musician. Like most other Tamil films which have love as their pet subject, Paali too is a love story.

Jesudas has tried his level best to make a film with all new comers to the industry.

Story in short: Hero Richard is a college student and he studies at the London Music College . He loves music more than any thing in life. One of his ambitions in life is to find the music instrument Paali. He comes to India in search of Paali and finds Paali (Rimpi) in a village. But this Paali is a girl, the daughter of the village chief. Paali falls in love with her much to the dismay of her cousin Kaarai (Pagala). There is a sudden twist in the story with Richard vanishing from the scene. Kaarai becomes the suspect and police interrogate him. But Richard comes back to the scene and narrates the story behind his disappearance. Whether the lovers unite or not form the climax.

Director Jesudas an associate of famous director Shaji Kailash has managed to make the film but with many flaws. He should have cut short many unwanted scenes.

Debutant hero Sree cannot be called too good. He has a lot to improve and work on. Heroine Rimpi who has acted in many asseme movie is up to the mark.

Music is one thing that should be mentioned. Music director Bhagavath has tried to give beautiful melodies. But as this is a film about music he could have concentrated more on songs.

There are several movies in Tamil which have music as the subject and many of them are classic. But it is doubtful whether Paali would add itself to that category.
