Good adaptation. I've seen the telugu version, many times. Still watching the tamil version was fun. Prabhu Deva has done a brilliant job of adapting the movie. He dared to improvise a lot, I said he dared coz he improvised even the best scenes in the telugu version. He also changed the entire comedy track, which is better than the telugu track or should I say bettersuits the tamil viewers.

the dance moves were good, though a bit obvious and expected in Vijay's movies, that too with prabhu deva directing it. I like the "Tamil Tamil " song, the visuals, costumes steps , camera work, everything was too good. the song pokkiri pongal is made for the masses, the step where he pulls his shirt up and down is cool. Dol dol song is also shot well, the costumes stand apart.

The difference in the characterization is: though Vijay imitated mahesh babu he acted and performed in a way which he can do well or in a way which suits him. He added some humor to his character. His character seems believable. Asin is good in the beginning scenes but later on when the closeups were used, her facial drawbacks like pimples were too prominent and her make up was bad. vadivel is good. Though Prakash Raj stays for a minor period, he improvized his action, which i liked.

I am talking a lot about improvizing a remake coz I've seen Thirupachi being remade into Annavaram into telugu. The director took no risk at all. He didnt modify anything, or he did very little if any.

I feel when you are remaking, you can remove the bad scenes, even the best movies have bad scenes(relatively bad). They should improvize or make it better coz it is like a rewrite, you cannot write the same mistakes again.

Spoiler warning, dont read if you havent seen the movie and you dont want to spoil your fun:

Prabhu Deva scored coz he modified even the best scenes like the meeting scene where he starts a shooting between two parties. or the scene where he shows bullets to the cop and asks about tiles..etc.

A number of slight improvements like the last scene where the hero asks the corrupt villian to find out the location of ali bhai over phone, he asks him to talk over speaker phone, so that the villian doesnt have the chance to lie to the hero, which could be done quite easily. In thetelugu version the corrupt cop doesnt talk in speaker phone. Thus All the actions are sound logically. Also the reason why ali bhai comes to india from dubai.

Minus Points: scene where he slaps the villains' guy in their den could have been done better, asin is a minus, i cant think of any others :)
