The film Shivaji has been released with much fanfare. The film certainly does not deserve such adulations. While Rajnikant has certainly acted quite well, the heroine has practically no role to play. She has no expressions and her face is wooden. Unfortunately, it looks like that inspite of an experienced director like Shankar, she did not know how to act. Moreover, she has no compatibility with Rajnikant. They look like father and daughter. Another person who deserves credit is Adi Seshan as the villian who does a decent job.
The sets and photography are superb. It certainly shows that lot of money has been spent on the sets. Story is passable. It is funny to note that Shivaji goes back to USA and gets a green card in a matter of days in another name and returns to India. It is also astounding to potray that a person who has died of electrical shock can be revived after his body is carried out in a van for some distance and certainly to an extent of time. Songs, unfortunately, are absolute trash and so many songs are not needed in the film. I am sorry for A R Rehamn who has not lived up to the expectations. The film running time can certainly be reduce or edited to make it more interesting and less boring.
