Sivaji-The Boss: Review
It's not a surprise that Sivaji-the Boss is just an about average film after all this hype and hoopla...It' s becoming a trend that films which are much hyped about are bombing at the box office... But Sivaji has not bombed thanks to the charisma of the Superstar.
One wonders how much money shankar/AVM gave for the News channnels for marketing the film and creating such an unprecedented hype( why the hell do they compare AB and Rajini?). The problem with this movie is you never get involved with the movie... Shankar has made sure that you're never disturbed from your relaxed position in your seat.. you are never ever tempted towards the edge of the seat. Shankar has made such a mockery of the administration in the country.
Also one wonders why the director has made such a fuss about the colour of our superstar.
You are too tired of the stunt scenes involving too many stuntmen..Peter heins sucks.
The film is tooooo lenghty(I guess it's more than 3 hours..what was the editor doing huh?.. I hope the theatre owners turn editors and provide some life to the audience). Rehman's brilliance in the background score has to be appreciated in the guitar fight( I pity the guitar)
The second part was better than the first except the climax.. The ending was awful( but I did like the get-up of Rajini in the climax).. And if you're the person looking for logical reasoning this is not the film for you.. You get to see Rajini in almost all the frame and when he's absent in a frame it means his dupe is fighting in a stunt scene.
But you can find some interesting scenes which come here and there.. The tea-kadai scene with the villian was great and few more scenes like that would have really helped the cause of the movie. Sivaji-the Boss is technically brilliant. K.V.Anand's camera and thotta tharani's sets were truly amazing and matched hollywood standards. Special mention must be given to the make-up man and the lights man.. Rajini looked the rajini he was.. He looks like a 30 year old in this film and that's one good reason for which you can watch the film again and again(If you are a die-hard rajini fan)...And nayanthara in the opening song was damn sexy( It would have been better if she had donned the heroine's role.. that would have also erased the age difference that is seen b/n rajini and shreya). Rajini is the backbone of the movie and supports the movie which is otherwise lacklustre..
3 thumbs down for shankar and 5 thumps up for Rajini and the technical crew.
I forgot to mention.. ATHIRADI song is the highlight of the movie... girratte choreography. ..(even a dance choreographer has handled stunt scenes in the song excellently compared to Peter heins action chorography)
Plus Points: Rajini and the technincal crew
Minus Points: All the department under Shankar's control
