Watching the first few scenes of the film Vegam reveal that it is the Tamil version of the Hollywood movie Cellular.

Cellular was a super hit English film and it made the audience hooked to the chair till the end. Will Vegam create the similar magic is for us to wait and watch.

S Ve Sekar's son Ashwin makes his debut as a hero through this film. Ashwin has trained himself for more than two years in dance and fight before starting this film.

It is long time since Prabhu and Kushboo had shared screens. The story which starts with the hero romancing the heroine suddenly takes a U turn and travels as a thriller.

Story goes thus: Sreeman is a former Police officer. He kills a person who becomes witness to reveal that Sreeman had received bribe. Unexpectedly Venu Aravind captures this in his camera.

Sreeman gets to know this and goes in search of Venu Aravind. Unable to find where Venu Aravind had hidden the tape, Sreeman kidnaps hiss wife Kushboo and his daughter and threatens Venu Aravind to kill them if he doesn't handover the cassette.

Sreeman lodges Kushboo in a building and beats her up. There is a phone in the room and Sreeman breaks it, to make sure that Kushboo doesn't contact the outside world.

But Kushboo repairs it and dials some no. and in the other end - the call is picked by hero Ashwin. Kushboo pleads with him to save her life and that of her child.

Ashwin initially considers it a prank call but finally he understands the seriousness of it and tries to help Kushboo.

The rest of the film tells how Ashwin saves Kushboo. Prabhu comes as a Malaysian police officer. Prabhu shows his strength in the second half of the film.

If one wants to tour Malaysia, better watch the film Vegam. They have capturd almost all the beautiful spots of Malaysia in their camera. It is a delight to watch Malaysia. It seems that the story is specially created for that.

Heroine Archana has no scope for acting at all. But she had contributed a lot to add glamour to the film. She appears very sexy in the song sequence. To talk about hero Ashwin, he has shown much ease in dancing and fighting but he fails to deliver in other scenes.Ashwin should concentrate more on acting.

S Ve Sekar who has produced this film for his son Ashwin also appears in some of the scenes. He comes as a comic relief. But most of the scenes he appears seem like a stage drama show.

Music by Rajesh Vaidhya who makes his debut is good. His background music has added to the pace of the film.

The director has made it sure that he makes a photo copy of the original version Cellular. But when compared with the original, Vegam is far from satisfactory.
