Next Anasuya Movie Review (3 Reviews)

Ravibabu earlier brought out a film ‘Allari’ on the banner of Flying Frogs. That film was a big hit. It gave life to Naresh, son of EVV Satyanarayana as hero and he became popular as ‘Allari’ Naresh. Likewise, Ravibabu also became very popular as ‘Allari’ Ravibabu. Not only he is a good and tasteful director, Ravibabu is also versatile artiste. He plays the roles of comedy villain and comedian on the screen with ease. Ravibabu proved that he is no exception to the sentiment that rules the Tollywood that the second film of a director would be a dud. However, with a renewed vigour, he came back with his film ‘Anasuya’ on his own banner again, in association with Suresh Productions. The audiences were able to taste a spicy dish from this talented director, who dished out a a heroine-oriented movie, with suspense and thriller in its backdrop.

Anasuya (Bhoomika) reaches city to become a reporter in a private channel and stays with Joseph (Melkote). She gets an opportunity to act as an undercover reporter gains a good name with her operation. However, with the sting operation taken up by Anasuya, a child Lakshmi loses her job and there are none to look after her. Learning this, Anasuya brings Lakshmi with her and treats her with sisterly affection and turns her best friend. By that time, the city police break their heads about a serial killer, who kills the wife (Ankitha) of an industrialist and another woman, wife of a poultry farm owner. The police find something special in the serial murders. The killer after killing a person takes away one body part from that victim. One day, Anasuya finds the killer (Ravibabu) at her house, killing Joseph. She informs the police, who catch him and release finding that he was disabled blaming that Anasuya misled them. However, she informs Task Force police officer Anand (Abbas) that he is not a disabled. When the police tried to corner him, he kills two of the policemen. After a few turn of events, police again trap him, but he escapes in a miraculous way and make the police believe that he is dead. Getting a dressing down from her bosses, Anasuya decides to chase the mystery. What kind of brain game did Anasuya play? Was she able to catch the culprit? Whether she could save others from the jaws of death of the serial killer? Answers to all these questions form part of the climax.

True to the expectations, Bhoomika gave a brilliant and fantastic performance all through the film. Next comes, Ravibabu, who himself played the role of a psycho killer. His excellent body language, fantastic performance made the audiences wonder as to whether such a great artiste was lying in him. Other artistes including Abbas, Melkote and others did complete justice to their respective roles. In fact, it was the director who was able to extract what he wanted from all the artistes.

The screenplay is perfect, direction is superb, while the background score is a highlight. All these remain plus points for the film. Director Ravibabu showed his shrewdness in directing the film and the audiences can’t find even a single scene which is absurd or unnecessary in the first half. However, with most of the story wrapped up in the first half, there is nothing much to explain in the second half. He was able to manage the part with lot of brain-game involving the heroine. Screenplay by Paruchuri Brothers is another plus point of the movie. The best part of the film is the music by Sekhar Chandra, son of popular cinematographer Hari Anumolu. He gave a fantastic re-recording all through the film and the sound recording and DTS mixing by Madhusudhan Reddy needs kudos as the music elevated the mood in the film However, the director should not have revealed the suspense before the interval bang. Limiting the hero’s role is another draw back, as the entire story revolves around the heroine.

It was definitely a different film from routine flicks and really typical thriller. The director moulded the story based on a theme ‘Bhava Sthirani Jananaanthara Sahrudaani…’ (which means those who love with each other will take birth for several times and they continue to be lovers). Could be watched once.
