There is no doubt that Annamayya is one among the best Telugu movies. Still it can be made better if the director tried to improve the characterization of Mohan babu, Saluva Narasimha Rayalu. History reveals that he was a great king despite the ego which made him command Annamayya to sing a song praising him. But it is improper that the director tried to invoke comedy through a character which has to be well respected. Still 1st half of the film was driven well. Annamayya's behaviour with his cousins(Ramya,..) though not completely true, is justified from the way director ran the show. Suman's appearance and performance is fitting. The settings and screenplay are lovely, especially how Annamayya goes to Tirumala with the most popular song "Adivo Alladivo". Keeravani's effort is better appreciated in the song "Nigama Nigamantha varnitha". Vincent's photography is an added advantage in conveying the meaning of the situations. The film gradually picks up its original pace after "Phalanetraanala" song. Towards the end, showing how Annamayya removed barriers in society through "Brahmamokkate" is great. The climax has no match, the dialogues superb. Everyone acted well. This film stands as the best film for the crew, mainly the director, K.Raghavendra Rao. J.K.Bharavi is to be given primary recognition for his script. Let us hope more of such films would come.. Finally what anybody would say is "IT NEEDS GUTS TO MAKE SUCH FILM TO IMPRESS THE PRESENT GENERATION". Cheers to Annamayya!!
